एक संगोष्ठी, जो न केवल शहीदों को श्रद्धांजलि थी, बल्कि यह एक सामाजिक चेतना का आह्वान भी थी कि हम अपने इतिहास को न केवल जानें, बल्कि उस पर गर्व भी करें और उसे आने वाली पीढ़ियों तक संजोकर रखें।

विमुक्त जातियों के संघर्ष और गौरव गाथा को स्मरण करने का प्रेरक आयोजन
गंगोह (उत्तर प्रदेश):
नकुड़ तहसील के गौरव और 1857 की प्रथम स्वतंत्रता क्रांति में अग्रणी भूमिका निभाने वाले अमर शहीद बाबा फतवा गुर्जर के 169वें बलिदान दिवस के उपलक्ष्य में एक भव्य विचार गोष्ठी का आयोजन किया गया। यह आयोजन विमुक्त जनजाति अधिकार मंच तथा गुर्जर जागृति समूह के संयुक्त तत्वावधान में संपन्न हुआ, जिसमें वक्ताओं ने न केवल स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के इतिहास को उजागर किया, बल्कि विशेष रूप से विमुक्त जातियों एवं कमेरे समुदाय के योगदान की उपेक्षा पर गहरी चिंता और आक्रोश भी व्यक्त किया।
इतिहासकार डॉ. सुशील भाटी ने अपने मुख्य वक्तव्य में विस्तारपूर्वक बताया कि किस प्रकार पुराने सहारनपुर जनपद (जिसमें वर्तमान हरिद्वार क्षेत्र भी सम्मिलित है) में 1857 की क्रांति के दौरान गुर्जर समुदाय ने फिरंगियों के विरुद्ध जबरदस्त संघर्ष किया। उन्होंने बताया कि यमुना नदी के किनारे बसे रांघड़ समुदाय के लोगों ने शहीद फतवा गुर्जर के नेतृत्व में विद्रोह में बढ़-चढ़कर भाग लिया था। इस संग्राम में टाबर गाँव के ठाकुर बख्शी सिंह का भी अतुलनीय योगदान रहा।
पूर्व निदेशक, भारत सरकार एवं लेखक डॉ. महिपाल ने अपने विचार प्रकट करते हुए कहा कि
"शहीद बाबा फतवा गुर्जर और उनके साथियों का यह संघर्ष केवल स्वतंत्रता के लिए नहीं, बल्कि शोषण और अत्याचार के खिलाफ एक सामाजिक क्रांति थी। उन्होंने स्पष्ट किया कि कंपनी राज में सबसे अधिक उत्पीड़न कमेरे समुदाय — जिनमें किसान, पशुपालक, श्रमिक और विमुक्त जातियाँ सम्मिलित हैं — को ही झेलना पड़ा। फतवा गुर्जर का संघर्ष इन वंचितों की आवाज बनकर उभरा।"
जामिया मिलिया इस्लामिया विश्वविद्यालय के प्रोफेसर डॉ. सैफ चौधरी ने अपने सारगर्भित भाषण में कहा कि
"क्रांतिकारियों की स्मृति को अक्षुण्ण बनाए रखने के लिए उनके नाम पर शिक्षण संस्थान, शोध केंद्र और संग्रहालय स्थापित किए जाने चाहिए ताकि आने वाली पीढ़ियाँ अपने इतिहास से प्रेरणा ले सकें। उन्होंने विमुक्त जनजातियों के योगदान को इतिहास की मुख्यधारा में लाने की आवश्यकता पर भी बल दिया।"
इस अवसर पर बाबा फतवा के जन्मस्थल बुढाखेड़ा से संबंधित एक ऐतिहासिक परंपरा का निर्वहन करते हुए वहां के निवासी चौ. कासिम बाबा को सहयोग देने वाले रांघड़ समुदाय के प्रतिनिधि खुरशैद राणा को 'पगड़ी' भेंट कर सम्मानित किया गया, जो सलामी का प्रतीक है। साथ ही, बाबा फतवा की शहादत के पश्चात जिस परिवार को बटार खाप की चौधर की जिम्मेदारी सौंपी गई, उस परिवार के प्रतिनिधि चौ. रामपाल सिंह को भी पगड़ी भेंट की गई।
इतिहास के दूसरे प्रेरक अध्याय के रूप में, 1942 के भारत छोड़ो आंदोलन में भागीदारी निभाने और 1962 के भारत-चीन युद्ध में शहीद हुए मेजर पृथ्वी सिंह (दुधला) के पौत्र प्रधान नीरज कुमार को भी इस अवसर पर सम्मानित किया गया।
गोष्ठी में विचार रखने वाले प्रमुख वक्ताओं में बलबीर सिंह तोमर, मुजफ्फर अली गुर्जर, सुशील कमहेड़ा, एडवोकेट जीशान अली, महावीर सरस, इंजी. फरमान खानपुर गुर्जर, मुस्लिम चौहान, अमजद बटार और मा. कटार सिंह शामिल रहे।
कार्यक्रम की अध्यक्षता शराफत आज़ाद ने की, जबकि संयोजन और संचालन का दायित्व यामीन भारती एवं मुस्तकीम चौधरी ने निभाया। आगंतुकों का स्वागत धर्मवीर खटाना ने किया और धन्यवाद ज्ञापन मांगेराम द्वारा प्रस्तुत किया गया।
इस ऐतिहासिक एवं प्रेरणादायी अवसर पर समाज के अनेक गणमान्य नागरिक उपस्थित रहे, जिनमें प्रमुख रूप से लोकेश सलारपुरी, उस्मान बाबू, इजराइल चौधरी, डॉ. बुरहान तोमर, स्वराज चेयरमैन, डॉ. अफसर आदि सम्मिलित थे।

🌟 Honoring a Legacy of Sacrifice
On the historic occasion of the 169th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Baba Fatwa Gurjar, a deeply reflective and inspiring symposium was held to revisit the forgotten yet fearless contribution of marginalized freedom fighters—especially those from Vimukt (denotified) communities—in India’s First War of Independence, 1857.
The event was not only a tribute to a brave soul but a platform to demand historical recognition for many such unsung heroes.
🎙️ Keynote Addresses
🔹 Dr. Sushil Bhati (Historian)
Spoke in depth about the Gurjar-led resistance against the British in 1857 across the Saharanpur region (including present-day Haridwar). He highlighted the courageous role of Baba Fatwa Gurjar and the involvement of the Ranghar community along the Yamuna belt, and notable support from Thakur Bakhshi Singh of Tabar village.

Revealed how Baba Fatwa Gurjar’s rebellion was not only against colonial oppression but also in defense of the Kamere (working-class) communities, who were the most exploited during British rule.

Called for the establishment of educational institutions in memory of such revolutionaries, especially those from Vimukt communities, so that future generations can draw inspiration from their own roots.

In Symbolic Gestures of Respect
Khurshaid Rana was felicitated with a turban (pagdi) for his lineage’s role in supporting Baba Fatwa in Budhakheda.
Ch. Rampal Singh, current representative of the family entrusted with Butār Khap leadership post Baba’s martyrdom, was honored.
Pradhan Neeraj Kumar, grandson of Major Prithvi Singh (freedom fighter in 1942 and martyr of 1962 Sino-India war), was also presented a ceremonial turban.
